DRESS CODE, EQUIPMENT & MAINTENANCE

picture 10

At Level Up Performance Skating, we believe in maintaining a professional and cohesive appearance while on the ice. Our dress code is designed to ensure safety, comfort, and refinement for all members. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

1 Skatewear:

  • Skaters are required to wear appropriate figure skating attire for practice sessions, including fitted leggings, shirts, dresses, or skirts that showcase the lines of the skater and allow for freedom of movement.

  • Small gloves - Premium Magic Stretch Gloves.

  • Thin figure skating socks.

  • Layered athletic wear is encouraged.

  • All attire should be clean, well-maintained, and free of excessive embellishments that could catch on blades or obstruct movement.

For safety and uniformity reasons, we kindly ask that members refrain from wearing hoodies, bulky winter clothing (including pom-pom hats), and any loose or dangling clothing like scarves or jewelry while on the ice.

2 Hair and Accessories:

  • Hair should be neatly styled and secured away from the face to ensure clear vision and safety.

  • Neatly pulled back ponytails and buns are encouraged.

3 Footwear:

  • Skaters should always arrive to the rink in sneakers for both practice sessions and competitions.

  • Skaters must wear appropriate figure skating boots and blades during all on-ice activities.

  • For the skaters joining our program, we are often able to provide high-quality skates for you to borrow.

  • To purchase skates, we highly recommend being fitted by Jonathan English at The Sharper Edge Skates.

  • Additionally, please ensure proper maintenance of your figure skates by regularly sharpening blades (we do this in-house by Konstantin) and checking that the blade screws are tight.

  • Always dry blades thoroughly after skating and put on blade soakers.

  • Skate guards should always be worn when walking in skates. Without guards, blades can become dull or nicked, negatively impacting the skater's performance and increasing the frequency of blade sharpening. Guards will also decrease the risk of slipping and possibly injuring the skater.

  • For off-ice classes, a yoga mat and jump rope are necessary.
